Globe Run for Home 2010
Running on a new race route gave excitement and kept runners’ adrenalin pumping in the recently concluded Globe Run for Home. Swthrt and I were so excited ‘coz we wanted to set a new 21K PR on this race. As expected, it was a well- organized race since people from Finishline were behind the event. It was a new route to at least the first part of it which was running around the Makati Central Business District (MCBD) before going to a more familiar territory which is the Fort Bonifacio Global City all the way to Bayani Road and to the Heritage Park. The concept of different starting and finish line areas was rarely used. The starting line was along Ayala Avenue while the finish line was along Paseo de Roxas.
The Race
Coming into the race, Swthrt was not at her best. She was having problems with hyperacidity. It was probably brought about by the excitement coming into this race. It was a good start for both of us as we run the MCBD up until Buendia Avenue going up the Kalayaan flyover. As we entered the Bonifacio area, we slowed down as Swthrt would experience acid reflux that would give her goose bumps. Anyway, we tried to maintain our pace and were able to reach Heritage Park where we were welcomed with a more challenging route inside the park. We completed the course with a time of 2:44:17 which was not enough to set a new PR. It was still a good race after all.
Congratulations to Finishline and Globe! We hope to see the pictures from Photovendo soon!

Mizuno IR10 Presscon
Mizuno has played a significant part of my running life. It was my first official race (5K category) since I started running in 2008. In last year’s edition of the Infinity Run, I was registered for the 15K category but, Swthrt and I was not able to run because it was the burial day of my father-in-law. Mizuno Rider 12 was my first Mizuno shoes and the one I used for my first full marathon in the Condura Run 2010. Last night, I attended the Mizuno Infinity Run 2010 at the roof deck of the BMG Center in Magallanes. Discussed during the presscon were mechanics of the upcoming Mizuno race and the future of Mizuno running.

Our race recap: Run United by Unilab
It’s been quite a while since Swthrt and I have joined races organized by RunRio.We missed the recently concluded Century Run and the Timex Run which had really great reviews as to race organization and the after-race fun activities for the runners.
A week before the race, Swthrt and I were down by cough and colds. With just a day to gain back our fitness level, we joined the TBR Bull Session, as part of the training program for the participants of The Bull Runner Dream Marathon scheduled in May. The group run was led by Jaymie and runners from Second Wind.
The Race
Our plan was to run it easy since we have not fully recovered from our illnesses. It was a difficult start for both of us. Swthrt was even contemplating of having her first DNF race after running about 3Km. On my part, I was having difficulty in breathing and getting my rhythm in running. It was about running 5Km that we have finally got into the groove. The Bayani Road and Heritage Park was the toughest part of the course for us. It was a good thing that there were plenty of bananas at the long hydration tables along the route. It gave a great effect on our energy level. Nevertheless, we managed to finish the race with a reward of hearing our names announced as we crossed the finish line and awarded a finisher’s medal. We also improved our couple's MR. It was also great to note that there were generous gift packs ready for the 21k finishers.
Congratulations to Coach Rio and his team for setting up a real world class race!
