Our race recap: Run United by Unilab

It’s been quite a while since Swthrt and I have joined races organized by RunRio.We missed the recently concluded Century Run and the Timex Run which had really great reviews as to race organization and the after-race fun activities for the runners.

A week before the race, Swthrt and I were down by cough and colds. With just a day to gain back our fitness level, we joined the TBR Bull Session, as part of the training program for the participants of The Bull Runner Dream Marathon scheduled in May. The group run was led by Jaymie and runners from Second Wind.

The Race
Our plan was to run it easy since we have not fully recovered from our illnesses. It was a difficult start for both of us. Swthrt was even contemplating of having her first DNF race after running about 3Km. On my part, I was having difficulty in breathing and getting my rhythm in running. It was about running 5Km that we have finally got into the groove. The Bayani Road and Heritage Park was the toughest part of the course for us. It was a good thing that there were plenty of bananas at the long hydration tables along the route. It gave a great effect on our energy level. Nevertheless, we managed to finish the race with a reward of hearing our names announced as we crossed the finish line and awarded a finisher’s medal. We also improved our couple's MR. It was also great to note that there were generous gift packs ready for the 21k finishers.

Congratulations to Coach Rio and his team for setting up a real world class race!
